Description

ProdPad is a Brighton based tech start-up. We are currently looking for a middleweight Front-end Developer to join our team to help develop new and interesting features and improvements to our SaaS product; that are robust, powerful and innovative.

About ProdPad

ProdPad is cloud-based product management software used by 1000+ companies, including companies like Adobe, DWP, Autodesk, Mozilla, Amazon, KLM and NHS Education.

It’s a "software as a service" (SaaS) web tool designed to help teams build better products. By providing a single interface that collects all of the input from an organisation's broad base of users (both external prospects & customers, and internal groups - like sales, customer care and development), ProdPad provides product managers a beautiful interface to organise their product backlog, build their roadmap, and send their requirements to development via any of our incredibly useful integrations.

As a company we’re constantly striving for the best product management practices ourselves, so you can expect to be a part of a truly agile workplace (continuous iterative improvement, not arbitrary deadlines!), building, learning and iterating on our product to make it better for our users with continuous research and weekly deployments in place so you’ll be regularly contributing to improvements to the product.

We invest in training, conferences, and whatever else you might need to get new skills and improve your own work. We also encourage personal development and allow time for R&D regularly.

About the Job

We are currently looking for a middleweight Front-end Developer to join our team to help develop new and interesting features and improvements to our SaaS product.

In addition to working with exciting technologies to build our powerful web-app, we’d love to add a new colleague to the team with some mentoring and/or leadership experience, or who is ready to step into a role that involves mentoring other team members. As a growing organisation, we will be bolstering our development team over the coming months and we will need a solid and safe pair of hands to help our team with both technical guidance, and in areas such as onboarding.

This role will be reporting to our CTIO.

This role will give you the opportunity to

  • Work with our development and UX teams in an agile fashion to deliver iterative improvements that we can get in front of customers.
  • Be continuously improving our core app as it grows. We perform weekly deployments!
  • Research and implement the best technologies that will allow the product to be fast, responsive, and usable.
  • Own your code and make sure that it's clear and well maintained to have other developers jump in on as the engineering team grows.
  • Be an integral part of the team, enjoying direct input into suggesting and discussing future product developments.
  • Own the CSS/SCSS codebase - create and maintain an CSS/SCSS style guide, and review all relevant PRs.
  • Own the architecture of all new UI components and work closely with our design team on our design system.
  • Own the UI documentation including writing and maintaining it, making it friendly, helpful, and accessible.
  • Contribute as much as possible to the creation of the design system.
  • Work with the design / UX team to create functioning prototypes for new features. Have more of an active input whilst iterating on / developing these prototypes.
  • Get involved in concepting ideas and prototyping (working alongside the Product Design team).
  • Perform regular code reviews amongst the team.

Tech stack you’ll be working with

Vue, Node, Modern CSS and Websockets

About you

  • You can communicate effectively and are able to translate technical aspects to the wider team.
  • You’re keen to try new technologies and always looking for how to improve what we currently have.
  • You have a deep understanding of CSS and its quirks across different browsers.
  • You have an excellent ability to translate designs accurately from visuals to the web.
  • You might be a creative individual with a passion for making things look and feel great.
  • You are keen to develop your mentoring and leadership skills

Desirable Skills and Experience: (Approx. 2+ years is desirable)

  • Experience in VueJS (or some of the other JS frameworks - Svelte, React, etc).
  • Experience writing Modern CSS - Grid, Flexbox, Custom Properties, and friends!
  • Experience writing semantic, accessible HTML.
  • Experience with Node and JavaScript implemented WebSockets.
  • Experience with test-driven development (TDD).
  • Experience with JavaScript based package managers and task runners.

If you tick some of these boxes, but not all; or have less than the 2ish years desired experience but feel ready for some fast tracking - that’s okay! If you’re keen to learn, we’re here to teach. Let us know in your covering letter why this is the job for you!
