Do you want to work on projects where you’re actually trusted and empowered to make meaningful change for some of Australasia’s leading companies?

Dream of working in a place you can call home rather than have to change your career every two years to get ahead?

Want to be part of a team that focuses on getting the job done and having a good time while doing it?

We’re Origin, part of the Kiwi-owned and operated software business, Sandfield, and we build super-smart supply chain software solutions that make a big difference to some big brands.

We’re working on some pretty ‘meaty’ projects right now and there’s plenty more in our pipeline...so we need more talented Software Developers to join our awesome team.

About Sandfield

Our parent company, Sandfield, has built a formidable reputation for developing innovative software solutions for clients, and has been punching well above its weight, since it opened its doors in 1989.

As a company, we pride ourselves on NOT being a conventional tech company. In fact, we like to push the boundaries of what’s possible in everything we do.

The Origin supply chain team helps clients get a complete view of their supply chain operations to give them a competitive edge.

Our software facilitates high performance supply chains for the likes of Mainfreight, Qube and Allied Concrete just to name a few.

Your job will be to help us develop bespoke tech solutions that help our clients load, ship, transport and deliver to their customers expectations at the same time as providing better visibility of what’s going on in their supply chain than ever before.

Our pitch to you

We know it’s a competitive market out there and loads of other companies are also probably trying to ‘woo’ you right now with big numbers and equally big promises.

What we can offer is something a little more special.

Our developers get to deal directly with our clients and we spend just as much time nurturing soft skills, such as communication and business acumen, as we do helping our developers be even more ‘ninja’ at their coding.

We guarantee your ‘everyday’ will be interesting, varied, challenging and fun! You’ll get to work alongside a range of other smart developers of all levels, who also happen to be really great people too.

They’re mountain bikers, road bikers, skiers, runners, active relaxers, video gamers, animal lovers, movie buffs, gym buffs, foodies, wine critics, bakers and musicians. They’re also family people, single people, party people, quiet people, loud people and happy people.

Our collaborative culture is at the centre of everything we do and it makes it a pretty special place to work. We know this because people also don’t tend to leave - i.e. the average length of service here is at least five years.

We also have a beer fridge, funky offices and ‘fun food Fridays’!

But don’t just take our word for it - here’s what our people say about working at Sandfield (Working at Sandfield).

As an organisation, we’re also very conscious of our environmental footprint and are currently on a journey to become carbon neutral in the very near future.

Our tech stack

We work across a variety of technologies, although specialise in a Microsoft stack, and always select the right technology based on our client’s needs. We’re primarily building web-based applications but have opportunities for mobile development as well.

You’ll need:

  • In-depth working knowledge of functional React, preferably 16.8+
  • In-depth knowledge of ES6 syntax
  • Fluent in Typescript
  • Experience using a 3rd party component library (MaterialUI, HeadlessUI) and/or a CSS framework (ie; TailwindCSS)
  • Experience working with state management tools (Redux, React Query, Zustand, Jotai)
  • In-depth knowledge of Git, including standard development lifecycle (feature branching, pull requests, CI/CD)
  • Experience with React testing methodologies, or a strong desire to write testing
  • An interest in all aspects of the SDLC, including talking to clients is ideal

When you work for us, you’ll enjoy:

  • Rapid career advancement based on initiative and performance
  • A huge variety of work
  • A relaxed, supportive and social environment
  • An opportunity to work alongside some highly experienced developers
  • The freedom to employ creative thinking and really make a difference to our clients’ businesses
  • Being involved in everything from conceptual design to the full SDLC
  • A flat team structure that emanates lots of positive energy!
  • Flexible working policy
